It appears that a question on the lips of many people living in Dorchester may be answered soon.

Over the years, and more prevalent recently with the re-birth of Brewery Square and the proposed Charles Street development, people have wondered how many businesses have upped sticks from the county town and departed to Poundbury.

The Duchy of Cornwall tells me that the 163 businesses in Poundbury, employing some 1,500 people, will be asked in a survey where they have moved from.

It is expected that the survey, to be conducted by Oxford Brookes University and West Dorset District Council, will take place before the end of this year.

Thus putting guesswork to rest.
