A HEALTHCARE worker from Dorchester will not stop running.

For Antony Masters, public relations manager for BMI The Winterbourne Hospital in the county town, the Brighton marathon was just the first leg in a charity double header that will take him across the Atlantic.

Antony is raising money for the Orchid male cancer charity and, having completed the 26.2-mile route in Sussex in four hours and 37 minutes, he will now turn his attentions to the Chicago Marathon in October.

In the intervening period he is also hoping to take on a couple of half marathons and is hoping to raise a total of £1,000.

Antony said he wanted to run for Orchid to do his bit to raise awareness, particularly among men.

He said: “Cancer touches most of us in some way.

“Men are notorious for not getting things checked out by their GPs, so I wanted to do my bit to raise awareness of the importance of doing that.

“My double marathon challenge is also to help in the research to find a cure and inevitably help people survive.”

Keen runner Anthony said he was looking forward to continuing his training through the summer months and eventually competing in the Chicago Marathon, which is widely classed as one of the six major marathons in the world.
