A MAJOR boot-making firm is the latest name to step forward and join the Brewery Square development.

Jones Bootmaker, which has more than 100 branches across the United Kingdom, has signed up to the £100million town centre development and is due to open a store next month.

The company was established back in 1857 as a family business in London and has developed and expanded to become an industry leader.

It joins Hobbs and Phase Eight as national names due to take up units in the development.

Andrew Wadsworth, director of Waterhouse which is developing Brewery Square site in partnership with Resolution Property, said the new store was due to open on July 12.

With the five restaurants, a cinema, hotel, bar and coffee shop already up and running at the development, Mr Wadsworth said he was pleased to see the retail element of the scheme taking shape.

He also welcomed the arrival of an established firm in Jones Bootmaker, which will add further employment opportunities on top of the jobs already created at Brewery Square.

Mr Wadsworth said: “They have been going since 1857, they are a major national name and it’s a highly prestigious letting.”

The developer also revealed that a deal was close to being agreed for the a newsagents to take up a unit next to Costa Coffee, opposite Dorchester South train station.
