A NEW boat owner who set off on a round-Britain adventure four months ago will be returning to Portland this afternoon.

Alan Harrison had only just bought his brand new Beneteau Swift Trawler 44, called Skooty Alan, when he decided to follow his dreams and circumnavigate the UK.

Accompanied by his wife Sue and Jack Russell dog Spot, he left Portland in April and set off east, stopping off at various ports, harbours and jetties along the way.

During his time exploring the UK shores, Harrison has collected more than £3,000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Today, he is expected to return Skooty Alan to Portland Marina and complete his trip at 3pm.

A flotilla of Beneteau motor boats will travel out to meet him at the harbour entrance and on arrival to the marina he will be warmly welcomed by staff from the local Beneteau dealership KTK Prime Motor Yachts Limited, the RNLI and Portland Marina.
