PUPILS at a Weymouth school have been treated to a very special tea party to reward them for their recent hard work.
The mayor of Weymouth and Portland Howard Legg played host to 19 students from Beechcroft St Paul's Primary School for the event.
The children spent an hour in Coun Legg's parlour, learning about what it takes to be the mayor of the borough.
They even got the chance to try on his treasured robes of office during the party.
Beechcroft headteacher Joyce Brown said all the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
"I think they were fascinated by what they learned," she said.
Coun Legg, who is associate governor at Beechcroft and has family members who attended the school, arranged the tea party as recognition for the students' recent efforts.
Mrs Brown added: "Coun Legg wanted to reward the children for all their hard work over the term."
