SOLICITORS Mustoe Shorter held a competition inviting children from Dorset's refuges to design the company's Christmas cards for them.
Staff at the firm, which has offices in Dorchester and Weymouth, organised the contest because they were tired of the commercial nature of standard greetings cards.
Children who came up with the best designs were given prizes for their efforts by the solicitors.
Weymouth practice manager Shirley Deeney said: "This year we took Christmas back to what it should be - all about children. So we asked kids at the refuges to design our cards, and gave prizes for the best ones."
The children who came up with the top three Christmas card designs were given cash prizes, and all the other entrants received selection boxes.
"It went really well," added Mrs Deeney. "We didn't want to spend loads on commercial cards, and this has just made everybody smile a bit."
