IO Theatre returns to the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis tomorrow to perform The Snow Spider.

Everything changes on Gwyn Griffiths’s ninth birthday, when five strange gifts unlock the door to a series of exciting discoveries.

Gwyn is drawn into a dangerous adventure and must confront powerful forces from the past if he is to come to terms with his own future – but he has the help of Arianwen, a silver spider from another world.

Io Theatre Company was formed in 2003 to find new and exciting approaches to theatre, collaborating with cross-talented artists to create shows with a strong visual and musical dynamic.

A timeless Christmas show for both adults and young people is promised.

Jenny Nimmo’s award-winning book is brought to life in a performance combining physical theatre with live music to evoke the magic and wildness of rural Wales.

The show is at 7pm. Tickets are £11 plus concessions and family rates and the show is suitable for age seven and over.

Io Theatre are followed on Friday by Charlie Bicknell, who will be at the Marine for an up close and personal performance in the Stage Door Bar.

Charlie, well-known for her “electrifying presence” and “gloriously dark sense of humour”, will be providing a little Christmas crackle in this evening of Jazz and festive songs.

The performance is at 8pm and tickets are £7.50.

Finally this week, comedian Mark Thomas is also at the venue with his 100 Acts of Minor Dissent on December 14.

Mark catalogues everything from the smallest and silliest gesture to the grandest confrontations and the results are subversive, hilarious, and occasionally inspiring.

The show is at 8pm and tickets are £15 plus concessions.
