THE Belvedere Bowmen are on the lookout for new members of all abilities.
The Weymouth-based field archery club holds its practice nights on alternate Mondays at St Edmund’s Church Hall on Lanehouse Rocks Road, and anyone is welcome to attend.
All training equipment is provided and the first evening is free.
The club was formed in 1999 and got its name from the pub in which the five founder members met.
Practice was initially undertaken in the skittle alley at the Belvedere but since then open shoots have been held on land at Hardy’s Monument, Warmwell Quarry and near Bere Regis.
Each year the club attends the NFAS National Championships and in 2002 won the club team instinctive trophy.
It has also picked several individual medals over the years as well as the club team hunting tackle trophy, which it won three years on the spin between 2006 and 2008.
The club holds its outdoor shoots at the Purbeck Shooting School on Puddletown Road in Wareham, which is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
