CHICKERELL UNITED 3 WITCHAMPTON UNITED 0
JOSH Why bagged a brace as the high-flying Chickens chalked up a fourth win on the spin in the Dorset Senior League.
Jamie Rawlings was also on target for the table-toppers who now sit two points clear at the summit after Westland Sports could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Blandford United Reserves.
Chickerell United boss Steve Coward told Echosport: “Witchampton came into the game full of confidence following their recent win over Upwey in the Senior Trophy and, to be fair, they are a hard team to beat.
“They had two ex-Holt United lads in the middle of the park, and they are one of the better footballingg sides in the league, so to play well against them and get a 3-0 win was very pleasing.
“It was good to see us take our chances and I thought there were some really good performances.
“Josh Why scored twice before half-time and then Jamie Rawlings got the third after the break.
“Jamie has been doing really well, his work rate has been fantastic and I was delighted to see him get his goal which was thoroughly deserved.
“Andrew Stalker also came in from the reserves and had a good game, and with Westlands dropping points it turned out to be a great afternoon for us.”
This Saturday at the Stalls, Chickerell will look to get revenge over South Cheriton (3pm) who won the last meeting between the two clubs 3-2 back in November.
Chickens: Boore, Stalker, Guilbert (Rawlings 65), Ferguson, Coles, D Welch, Etherington, Stone (Protheroe 75), S Welch, Why, White (Heath 85).
Upwey & Broadwey returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion against struggling Okeford United.
Still smarting from their Senior Trophy defeat to Witchampton the previous week, Upwey battered the basement boys 11-0 with goals from Sam Nichols (2), Ricky Lane (2), Charlie Kenderdine (2), Charlie May (2), Ethan Devaney, Nathan Aston and Richard Frost.
Next up for Upwey is a home clash against Corfe Mullen United on Saturday (3pm).
