TREVOR Senior has labelled the trips to Hengrove Athletic and Bishop Sutton as must-win games.

Bridport currently sit 15th in the Toolstation Western Premier Division but they are fully aware that their next two results could possess the power to plunge them into a relegation battle should they not go their way.

Hengrove currently sit fourth-bottom, just six points adrift of the Bees with a game in hand, while Bishop Sutton already appear doomed at the foot of the table.

Senior said: “We have got to win these next two games otherwise we could be dragged into things at the bottom.

“We have got Hengrove on Saturday (3pm) and then Bishop Sutton on Tuesday night (7.30pm) and they are both six-pointers.

“I don’t want to put pressure on the lads but there clearly is pressure because the last thing we want is to be in a relegation battle during the last few weeks of the season.”

The Bees won 2-0 at Hengrove in the FA Cup back in August and Senior is hoping for a repeat performance.

He added: “Hengrove worked hard in that match and it was 1-0 for quite a while before we finally managed to get the second.

“I am expecting a similar type of game on Saturday and hopefully we can come out on top again.

“We lost 6-2 against Melksham in our last outing and they lost 6-0 against the same side on Monday night, so both teams will be hoping to bounce back.”

Bridport have picked up just one point from their last six outings in the league but five of those games were against sides in the current top six.

Senior continued: “All the lads want to do is get back playing regularly.

“We have 14 games coming up in seven or eight weeks, so it is going to be tough, but most other sides are in a similar position.

“Hopefully we can pick up a couple of good results and then build on from there.”

Chris Clarke is struggling with a thigh injury while Ashley Staines has decided to move to Sherborne Town. Weymouth Reserves have also put in a seven-day approach for Shane Evans.

Senior said: “Ashley wants more first-team football, so he has decided to go to Sherborne.

“I cannot guarantee him a first-team place at present but he is a great lad and we wish him well.

“Weymouth Reserves have also put in an approach for Shane but I am hoping he will stay, at least until the end of the season.

“As for Chris, he picked up a thigh injury playing for the reserves last weekend.

“At first, we thought it was just a dead leg but he ended up having to go to A&E due to the pain.

“They are not sure whether he has fractured something or not, and we are just waiting to hear back.”
