Drunk on Love, a film produced by Ben Richards from Weymouth, will be showing at the Lighthouse in Poole tonight.

The film showcases young, upcoming British talent with special appearances from Jane Asher and Uri Geller and has been described as a quiet lunchtime pint which escalates into a historic pub crawl that will change the lives of the characters forever.

There’s Luke, a re-confirmed bachelor and novice novelist who is still in love with his ex- girlfriend.

Brady is in a dead-end job and has fallen in love with Fred.

She is equally smitten but is worried by his love-rat reputation.

It’s Valentine’s Day and Luke can’t find the inspiration to complete his horror novel; Brady, having escaped the clutches of a crazy wannabe girlfriend, decides he cannot face another 9 to 5 day and calls in sick.

They decide there is only one thing to do on a day like this… go to the pub.

What begins as a quiet lunchtime pint escalates, as they are joined by housemates Fred, Angus and Ariel, for an epic pub crawl with life-changing results.

Convincing Uri Geller and Jane Asher to appear in this dark romp was a major coup for Ben.

He explained: “I tried to convince him to be in a local TV show I was producing in Southampton many years ago and he was kind enough to hear me out and gave me some advice at the same time about having a more positive attitude.

“Sure enough, when I tried for Drunk on Love, he had the same mobile number and was kind enough to hear my pitch.

“He seemed to think it worth his time and effort.

“From the film point of view he is suitably random to appear and does a great performance, very funny and what a sport!

“And should the film make any money, his fee will go to charity.”

Ben, who was born in Weymouth but moved to Southampton at a young age, said: “I have a shared house in Weymouth now as I love the beach and the atmosphere.

“The shared house is not like the one in the film though, full of messy drunks. Oh no, mine are professional gentlemen.

“There is a great vibe in the town and I love the environment with the wonderful nature.”

David Bryant, director and scriptwriter of Drunk on Love, said: “I believe the film has a great chance of success where many others fail because, as well as being funny, it pulls you in and makes you want to spend time with these characters.”

He added: “Nobody should watch a film simply to support British Film, it needs to be worth their time, and that is why people should go and see Drunk on Love.

Drunk on Love is screened at 8pm today. Call 0844 406 8666 for bookings and full details.
