KATE Tempest’s electrifying new show Hopelessly Devoted is coming to Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday at 7.30pm.
This uplifting piece of musical theatre will star 90s pop sensation and former EastEnders actress Michelle Gayle.
It tells the story of Chess who is in prison facing a lengthy sentence. Her cellmate becomes her soul mate, but when she is paroled, Chess is in danger of becoming totally isolated.
Hope comes in the form of a music producer who has her own problems to resolve and is looking for a reason to love music again. She finds a powerful voice in Chess, but to harness her talent Chess must first face her past. Music becomes Chess’ best shot at redemption.
The show was inspired by Tempest’s experiences at Holloway Prison, where she would often perform her work.
Tickets are £11 plus concessions from Bridport Arts Centre box office 01308 424204 or via bridport-arts.com
