FOLLOWING the success of previous events, the Lions Club of Bridport will be holding its third Charity Blues Extravaganza on Saturday, March 29, at the Freshwater Entertainment Centre in Burton Bradstock.

This feast of entertainment will feature Ben Waters, Fat Marrow Blues Band and C Sharp Blues.

Ben Waters, inset, has been described by Jools Holland as one of his 10 favourite pianists in history.

The Fat Marrow Blues Band is one of the most highly regarded blues/r&b bands in the West of England and C Sharp Blues is a four-piece blues/funk band from Dorset that mixes original material with classic blues and rock covers.

The collaboration between the Lions Club of Bridport and Bridport EDP drug and alcohol services has resulted in generous donations after each concert from Bridport Lions which have enabled Bridport EDP to purchase several laptops for service users in their efforts to overcome substance abuse issues and to contribute their skills to the community.

The donation from the Lions also gave EDP the opportunity to achieve a greater intake of learners onto its mentoring courses, and also went towards the cost of paying for the accreditation of these courses.

Profits from this year’s concert will be shared between Bridport EDP and the Young Musicians’ Fund, and brand-new charity that will be providing funds for aspiring young musicians in the Bridport area.

Tickets are available at £10 in advance from EDP’s Bridport office (telephone Joseph Olubodun on 07703568450), Bridport TIC in South Street, Bridport (01308 424901), Bridport Music in South Street (01308 425707), or £12 on the door if available.
