A WEYMOUTH line dancing teacher had a birthday to remember as he and his group raised over £300 for Sport Relief.
Borderline Scuffers, led by Paul Barrow, collected a grand total of £320 from regular classes held at the Weymouth Pavilion.
Mr Barrow celebrated his 70th birthday during a recent class and was surprised by his group on the night when he received two birthday cakes accompanied by glasses of non-alcoholic wine.
He said: “It was different. As I had to run the class on my birthday I thought we’d be able to do something different.
“We finished with £320 which I’ve banked. I was very pleased really.”
Line dancing classes have been a regular feature at the Pavilion, with dances performed to a number of different musical genres.
Mr Barrow said: “We’re just pleased to help support the Pavilion.
“We were lucky to fill in at the right time. It’s been very successful. We have had a big influx of new people dancing with us.
“It’s still going quite well.”
Earlier in March, the group enjoyed a workshop and evening dance led by Tina Argyle, a line dance choreographer.
The evening’s dancing was accompanied by a performance by the Douglas and Crooks Band.
Plans are in place to repeat the event next year.
