I can quite understand the frustration of Martinstown residents who are having their No. 31 bus service removed, apart from one bus in the morning and one in the evening.
I can see the point that First Bus are making as in their eyes the importance of this bus service is connecting with trains at Dorchester and the service does have a reputation of running late. They want to make it more reliable so that reliable train connections can be made.
However, the late running of the 31 bus is due to traffic congestion in Lyme Regis and traffic congestion in Dorchester.
The late running is not due to traffic congestion in Martinstown. So the bus will still run late in peak holiday times because of delays in these towns so there will be no improvement and Martinstown loses out through no fault of its own.
