CHILDREN in the Kingfisher Ward at Dorset County Hospital will now be able to watch their favourite films thanks to a local scout group.
Weymouth and Portland District Scouts chose the children’s ward as its chosen charity for 2013.
During the year, the scouts held many fundraising activities, including a St George’s Day parade and a carol service at Christmas to raise money for the ward.
They managed to raise a grand total of £400 and decided to purchase portable DVD players for the ward to allow the children to watch some of their favourite films as they recover on the ward.
Julie Goodall, who is a playleader on the Kingfisher Ward, said: “We are really grateful for this very generous donation from Weymouth and Portland District Scouts. “It’s wonderful that the money has been raised by children for children.”
The scouts held a special cheque presentation with nurses from the ward last week.
