GENEROUS customers have helped raise £250 for local schoolchildren with special needs. In December, the Rotary Club of Melcombe Regis held a Christmas collection in the foyer of Sainsbury’s, Weymouth.
Sainsbury’s chose to donate the money raised to the Wyvern School in Dorchester Road, which caters for children aged between two and 19 with complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The rotary club presented a cheque for £250 to Sainsbury’s manager Steve Jones, who is going to pass it on to the school.
Melcombe Regis Rotary Club president Richard Cropper said: “All of the money that we collected during the Christmas period will be passed to local charities and it is very rewarding for us to be able to help, with the aid of Sainsbury’s, this amazing school which caters for the needs of dependent children.”
