If Portland Port can cope with enormous cruise ships coming in and letting their passengers loose in Weymouth and surrounding areas, pre-sumably of some considerable benefit to Weymouth, why couldn’t they cope with Condor also? Quite a lot of passengers spend the night before sailing in Weymouth, I believe, so there would still be some benefit financially.
And when all is said and done isn’t it Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s own fault by not doing usual repairs on the harbour and therefore keeping it ship shape?
It’s a Forth Bridge situation, finish at one end and start again!
A stitch in time would be a good motto for the borough council to adopt from now on!
