A PENSIONER holidaying in Bridport lost his wallet containing more than £1,000 in cash.
Albert Andrews, 88, suffers from vascular dementia and wanted to treat his family to a holiday in thanks for their continued treatment for his condition.
He was in Bridport on Monday with his family when the wallet was lost.
Albert had saved long and hard from his pension according to Kerry Willis, who helps looks after him.
She said: “He knows he is frail but wanted to treat us by paying for everything, a treat really for us taking care of him.
“He really likes the pastries from the Punch and Judy Bakery in West Street so he took us there.
“He paid for them in the shop and then at some point between there and the car outside Waitrose realised he didn’t have his wallet on him anymore.”
Kerry added: “We checked with the bakery, asked taxi drivers and have contacted the police to ask if we could view the CCTV.
“When we got home we checked his clothes, but he was distraught because it took him so long to save. He said he was old and stupid and is really blaming himself for it.”
Kerry said that they were awaiting a response from the local police regarding the CCTV but hoped that if someone had taken the wallet they would feel enough shame to hand it back.
Kerry has asked anyone with information contact her on 07748 972159.
