PEOPLE are being encouraged to sign up for Lyme Regis’ popular fancy dress dip for charity, The Lyme Lunge.
The event takes place every New Year’s Day and for the next Lyme Lunge, organisers have selected charity Help for Heroes as the main charity to benefit from the proceeds raised by the event.
The 2015 Lyme Lunge will mark 100 years since a German U-Boat sank the British destroyer HMS Formidable in Lyme Bay with the loss of more than 500 lives.
The event is being organised by The Rotary Club of Lyme Regis and will be attended by the RNLI and St John’s Ambulance, with a safety boat at sea.
A total of 180 swimmers took part in 2014 and were watched by 1,000 spectators.
More than £5,000 was raised last year for local charities.
