A Dorset Police spokesman said the rider was on a blue Kawasaki travelling towards Weymouth when he was in collision with a blue Mercedes travelling in the opposite direction.
The crash happened between Abbotsbury and Swyre.
Police, firefighters and paramedics went to the scene.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said Bridport crews were alerted to a road traffic collision west of Abbotsbury at 11.30am and there were reports that smoke was coming from a motorcycle involved.
The fire was out on arrival but there was some damage to the bike.
Firecrews left the scene at just before 1pm.
Witnesses to the collision or the manner of driving of either of the vehicles are asked to contact PC Graham of the Dorset Police traffic unit on 101.
