As visitors to your town for the last few years we were shocked to learn of the proposal to demolish the Ferrybridge Inn and replace it with flats.
We suspect these will be for well off folks from out of the area to make money out of and not for local people to live in, probably like the flats left behind at Portland after the Olympics.
We come from just outside London (Watford) and love your town as do many others and to lose a little gem like the Ferrybridge Inn we believe would be a bad decision.
The staff in this pub are excellent ambassadors for your tourism dept. and made us feel very welcome – not just to their pub, but to the area as a whole.
Your local council needs to realise what an asset it, and others like it, are, importantly there isn’t another pub for quite some distance either side for locals to visit.
Each time developers swallow up havens such as these it diminishes the very reason for many to visit your wonderful town. In the end there will be loads of holiday accommodation and not enough left worth coming for.
