A BUS operator says customer feedback prompted the launch of a new improved service along one of Dorset’s main routes.

Damory has launched the new X11 service to replace the old 216 route between Dorchester, Sherborne and Yeovil.

The Go-Ahead owned operator claims the route will offer an improved timetable and newly refurbished buses.

Damory has been working with Dorset County Council to enhance the route and managing director Andrew Wickham launched the X11 with the council’s service manager for passenger transport Jan Stevenson at Sherborne Castle.

Mr Wickham said: “We have listened carefully to the views of passengers travelling on buses along this route and are pleased to be launching this new and improved offering.

“This is a popular service and we are keen to make journeys for customers who use the X11 even more comfortable and convenient.

“Passengers will be treated to newer buses and an updated timetable – which I hope will make a big difference to their travelling experience.”

Mr Wickham said his company is always keen to hear from those travelling on its buses and will be interested in the views of those travelling on the new X11 route in the coming weeks.

He said: “We make it our business to listen to the views of those travelling across the region – and always make efforts to enhance our services wherever we can.

“I am keen to receive feedback on any Damory service – but am particularly looking forward to learning people’s views over the coming weeks about our newly introduced X11 buses.”

Mrs Stevenson said the new service had come about after close collaboration between the commercial bus operator and the county council.

She said: “We’ve been working closely with Damory to further enhance bus services in Dorset – and this is an excellent demonstration of their commitment to helping us shape the future of public transport here.

“I look forward to travelling on the X11 over the coming months and years.”
