TEENAGERS in Lyme Regis will soon have their very own book bar.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage more young people to visit the town library. Teenagers will be able to drink a coffee and read a book of their choice.

Others will be given the opportunity to be book waiters' - serving drinks and handing out books.

The project, due to start in April, will be funded by the National Lottery and put into action by Dorset County Council with the help of charity The Reading Agency.

Dorset County Councillor David Crowhurst said: "We are delighted this lottery funding brings new money to Dorset which will enable us to extend the services for the young.

"This is a great way for young people in Lyme Regis and the surrounding area to get involved in creating an important new venue. It offers a terrific opportunity to develop skills, increase confidence and meet new friends."

The bar will be set up using a slice of £575,000 lottery cash awarded to The Reading Agency to set up projects across the country.
