WITH a force 6/7 wind blowing in a north-easterly direction across Weymouth Bay it was not the best of nights for fishing on Weymouth Pleasure Pier but the turnout was encouraging for Weymouth Angling Club's Junior Winter League.

Most of the juniors chose to fish on the inside of the pier to seek shelter.

With the wind getting stronger and only two fish being caught (Andy Shorter and Aaron Baber had a rockling apiece) Andy's was adjudged the larger and was declared the winner and the contest was halted due to the adverse weather conditions.

This was the third of the winter league competitions with another eight to be fished on each Monday evening up to and including March 19.

All competitions will be fished on the Pleasure Pier, 6.45pm-8pm, all fish are recorded and returned to the water alive. All junior anglers of any standard, beginners or experienced, are welcome to join.

Over-12: 1st Andy Shorter, 1 fish point, 31 league points; 2nd Aaron Baber, 1fp, 26lp.
