I am not sure if I am entitled to comment on the redevelopment of the Pavilion site as I do not live in Weymouth any more. However, I often visit, and I was brought up in Weymouth and have many happy childhood memories of going to the beach with my cousins in the summer. I may have missed some of the recent comments, but several questions come to mind.

1) If Weymouth beach is part of the World Heritage coastline, is it permitted to carry out any work that might eventually ruin it?

2) I understand that research is being done to plot the possible future effects of building a marina, but shouldn't the results be made known before this scheme goes ahead?

3) The Pavilion end of town does look a bit run down, but why replace it with something that will spoil the look of the whole bay?

Weymouth probably does need to be updated but does that mean destroying the natural beauty of the bay? A block of six-storey flats will stick out like a sore thumb.

I would like to think that Weymouth sands will be there for my great grandchildren and everyone else's.
