Coastguards were alerted to a report of a missing 3-year-old child along Weymouth beach this afternoon.
Wyke Regis Coastguards received a call from Dorset Police at 3.11pm to report the incident.
However, prior to the team setting off, a message came through to announce that the child had been found safe and well.
The crew were stood down at 3.28pm.
A spokesman for the coastguards said: "The team were stood down before they proceeded because the child was found."
