I FULLY support the replacement of the sea front fairy lights, which were always there when I was a child growing up in Weymouth, and added so much to the Esplanade scene at night.
The suggestion that LED bulbs are used is a good one.
Although they will cost a lot more than conventional bulbs, by buying in bulk, the cost will come down.
The big advantage is that although delivering as much light as a conventional bulb, they will use around one-sixth of the power, and will last between 10 and fifteen years.
I have them fitted throughout my house and they are an excellent investment.
