I WOULD like to draw more people's attention to PACT and why we need it to be fully supported PACT is Partners and Communities Together.

The partners are made up from police, local council officials, councillors, housing representatives, volunteers, local organisations and you and I from the community.

PACT meetings will be held every six weeks within the wards of the borough and it is hoped to have venues and dates for meetings borough wide in place by April 2008.

Arranged meetings will provide the opportunity for the members of a community to discuss then decide on the three most important priorities that they would want the community partners to deal with.

Police and partners will work together with the members of each community to tackle the three priorities identified by community members during these meetings.

A community action plan will be drawn up, with lead representatives of the various partners taking the appointed responsibility to tackle each priority.

The opportunity for discussion and report of the work carried out and progress made by the partners will be presented at the next meeting .

It then follows that another three priorities will be set by the community members with action to be undertaken by the partners and report on their progress at subsequent meetings.

Working together in this way will help develop a safer neighbourhood. The element of fear within the communities, due to the anti-social activities, would in time reduce and every one will benefit from this action.

To ALL residents of Westham, Granby and Lanehouse your next meeting will be held on Tuesday June 5, 2007 at 7 pm at St Pauls' Church in Abbotsbury Road,Weymouth.

Come along and let us all help to make a difference within our community.

Coun Jean Woodward, Chairman, Westham PACT, Ludlow Road, Weymouth.
