May I direct this letter to the person or persons who decided to help themselves to three stone ornaments from the garden of my 77-year-old, widowed mothers home, in Channel View Road, Portland, last week.

The ornaments, a lighthouse made by her late husband, an ammonite that is not a particularly good specimen and a swan, would have no great materialistic value, but the cherished memories that they have for my mother are priceless.

May I appeal to the person who removed them, or anyone else who may know of their whereabouts to return them.

She doesn't want to make a fuss, but it would make an elderly lady very happy!
