A FARMING couple are hoping to get the green light for a farm diversification scheme on their land.

A range of adventure activities including archery, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking and off-road buggy racing has been operating on land at Shakes Hole, Tolpuddle, for 12 months.

Now landowners Kevin and Amanda Crocker are applying for formal planning permission for the activities because the land was now being used for more than 28 days a year.

A statement supporting the application from property consultants Symonds and Sampson says that the activities on the land had been operated on behalf of the couple by Max Events, for 12 months.

"It is proposed that planning consent is granted for the use of the application site known as Shakes Hole as a leisure facility throughout the year subject to relevant conditions."

The statement said that the site would be used for activities on most Saturdays with some midweek activities but not on Sundays. A bund will also be installed to reduce the impact of noise from the site.

"This application has been submitted in order to regularise the activities taking place at Shakes Hole. As has been shown over the past few years the activities are not intrusive and they have created little in the way of objections.

"The farming enterprise which relates to the land is well supported financially by this use and it enables the farm to continue trading as a viable agricultural business."
