RUNNER Jason Webster caught up with Harold the Life Education Dorset giraffe as part of his training for a fundraising race this summer.
Jason, who works at Magna Housing Association in Dorchester, is raising money for the children's charity when he takes part in the London 10K race on July 1.
Now he is urging other people to join him.
The charity has 10 free places for runners who pledge to raise more than £100 in sponsorship.
The giraffe is a popular character with youngsters when Life Education Dorset visits schools as part of its work to help children make healthy lifestyle choices and avoid drugs.
Jason said: "I wanted to take part in this challenge to help children in Dorset choose a healthier future.
"The London 10K is a fantastic event and a great motivation to get fit."
