FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a fire in a garden at a house on Portland.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service was called to the incident at 8.51am this morning, after reports of a fire in the garden of a property on Mantle Close on the island.
Two crews form the service attended, and managed to extinguish the blaze using one hose reel jet.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue service said that after investigating the fire, firefighters believed that it had been a controlled burn that had got out of hand.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
Initially, two fire engines were called to the property, but one was stood down by the service on route as the fire had been extinguished.
