THE CHRISTMAS spirit will be in full swing at a new festive event coming to Dorchester tonight (Fri Dec 4).

The Corn Exchange is hosting the Dorchester at Christmas event, which promises a whole host of seasonal entertainment and a special guest appearance from a children's television legend.

Dave Benson Phillips, from CBBC's Get Your Own Back and Playdays, will be at the event, which will raise funds for the Kingfisher children's ward at Dorset County Hospital and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

The event has been arranged by a local group of fundraising who started supporting the county town hospital and other good causes through their comedy videos and have now branched out into events,

Adam Dicker, from The Video of All Video Events, said there promises to be something for everyone to enjoy on the night.

He said: "We are proud to present two fantastic live music performances from acoustic trio The Sparks and the delightful Lauren Bannon, who has a unique sound sure to impress.

"Further entertainment includes appearances from Disney Princesses Anna and Snow White, who will also be available for photo opportunities.

"Stalls and games will feature also during the evening and the opportunity to purchase snacks or grab a much welcomed pint at the bar will appeal to most as well, along with a fantastic raffle with amazing prizes from Tesco, Waitrose, TK-Maxx and gadget shop RED5 alongside many more.

"Our unique Winter Wonderland themed room will feature our dedicated photo booth with many different photo opportunities throughout the evening,."

There will also be a number of winter themed stalls and an appearance from Dorchester Town Crier Alistair Chisholm, while there has been word from Lapland that Santa himself will also be appearing.

All profits from the event will go to the Kingfisher Ward and Great Ormond Street.

The fun starts at 5.30pm with tickets available on the door at £7 for those aged 16 and over and £3 for children aged eight to 15 while children aged seven and under go free.
