I REFER to the article Director hits out over cancer surgery plans' (Echo, May 19) about hospital plans to switch cancer treatment from Dorset County Hospital to Bournemouth.

I was in the Royal Bournemouth with cancer last year for some time. My son ran my wife up and down in the car - 92 miles door to door!

When my son was admitted to Bath hospital she had to make her own way to Bournemouth She had to catch a bus into Weymouth, a train to Bournemouth, a taxi to the Royal.

The return journey was a taxi back to the railway station (the bus service never seemed to fit in with the train times) train to Weymouth and often, because she was so worn out, a taxi home.

We need this facility at Dorchester - it is plenty far from Weymouth as it is.
