ORGANISERS of Weymouth International Beach Race are getting into gear as preparations for this year’s event are underway.

Momentum is building for the motocross-style event returning to Weymouth sands this February for the third year running.

The two-day event, sponsored by Dickies, attracts top riders, both young and old, from all over England and Europe with bikes ranging from 50cc to 500cc and riders aged from as young as six.

With pro riders competing through to intermediates and beginners there is racing for all abilities.

Weymouth International Beach Race hosts a range of extreme displays, live music and of course quad and solo bike racing and is held in aid of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The track will stretch across Weymouth beach and include purpose built jumps, berms, loops, chicanes as well as the long sand straights.

Working in conjunction with Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, the event is striving to be even bigger and better event that previous years and one not to be missed in the Weymouth calender this year.

It promises to be an action-packed weekend for both riders and spectators. Saturday will see an adult solo race and a youth solo race and Sunday will see an adult quad race and a youth quad race.

The beach course will be approximately one mile long and is designed to test the riders to the limit.

There will also be a series of demonstrations, including a stunt team.

There will be a trade exhibition area situated directly in front of the Pavilion and there will also be a number of exhibitors along the Esplanade, where exhibitors will showcasing their products and services.

The exhilarating two-day event is being held on Saturday February 27 and Sunday, February 28.
