STEF Leonard found herself in the line-up of the carnival queen contest when she arrived for work at the King's Arms. The 22-year-old interior design student decided only at the last minute to take part.

She said: "I'm quite shocked to be in the final. It's certainly a surprise - I just came in to work and didn't expect this. But it's been a good evening and I've enjoyed it."Stef, who borrowed a white top and black shorts as her evening wear outfit, said she was studying interior architecture and design at the Arts Institute and particularly liked working on commercial buildings, designing shops and bars.

She told the judges: "I like playing a bit of football with the lads - just a kickabout, I don't really follow the game."

She hopes to become a successful designer.
