KEEN photographer David Mayo, 73, was walking on Asker Meadows in Bridport trying out his new digital camera on a group of grazing rabbits when a dust storm caught his eye.
He turned around, still shooting, with the camera and saw a hungry fox catch - and then lose - a rabbit.
He said: "I was in the field next to where the circus is. I was just about to take a picture of these rabbits when they literally took off and I saw dust flying up in the gateway.
"I turned around and just held the button down. There was exactly a second between each shot.
"I didn't honestly know what I'd got until I put them on to the computer."
Mr Mayo who lives in Barrack Street, Bridport, gave up photography when he retired seven years ago after a lifetime spent duplicating 35mm slides but recently he has had the urge to pick up a camera again and now he is a convert to digital photography.
"The camera will take three pictures a second but because the fox was all in shadow it was only capable of doing one a second."
Mr Mayo looked for the rabbit after the attack but did not find it.
