YOUTH centres are facing closure across Dorset.
Local communities are fighting to save their youth clubs and centres because of the invaluable work that they do.
Young people are often stereotyped as troublesome and places like youth centres help young people to come in off the streets and help to change society’s misguided expectations.
The fact that organisations like these are being threatened with closure is worrying.
Where will young people turn to when they need time to themselves?
If a young person’s only motivation is seeing their friends at a relaxed youth club and taking part in team building exercises that help them to gain life skills, the blow could be devastating.
Some young people will lose their only escape from stress, whether it be from home or from school.
Every young person needs something like that.
These budget cuts are going to be tough, but most people are convinced that there could be other ways to reduce spending without eliminating these valuable resources for young people in Dorset.
There are a number of youth centres that are in danger in Dorset and fighting and campaigning to stay open.
Local communities are pulling together and joining young people in their fight.
These people believe that you can't put a price on young people's welfare and safety.
