PUPILS at a Dorset school got their groove on with a former member of the Pussycat Dolls.

Kimberly Wyatt, who was a part of the Grammy-nominated group from 2003 until 2010, visited Lulworth and Winfrith Primary School today.

She visited the school in her capacity as an ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust and gave 32 pupils, aged between eight and 11, a dance masterclass.

The class was one of five school appearances Kimberly is taking part in to shape her Well-Fit initiative.

Well-Fit aims to use dance to improve confidence and self-esteem in young people, while helping them to get active in the process.

The Youth Sport Trust will assist Kimberly in developing the initiative and delivering it to schools.

Kimberly said: "The aim of Well-Fit is to use dance to get more young people physically active and the way we can do this is by providing something easy for teachers to use.

"Dance isn’t scary. It doesn’t need to be complicated; you just need a few core moves and you’re set.

"I hope the teachers that took part in the class today can see that dance activities are a great way of boosting activity levels, whilst increasing body confidence.

"The valuable insight we will get from these schools visits will also help to secure further investment so we can roll the programme out nationwide."

Kimberly was a member of the Pussycat Dolls during the peak of the group's popularity, including hit singles 'Don't Cha' and 'Buttons'.

Lulworth and Winfrith Primary School won the chance to have Kimberly visit after entering a competition at the Youth Sport Trust national conference earlier this year.

Sharon Buckland, headteacher at Lulworth and Winfrith Primary School, said: "It was fantastic to have Kimberly visit the school.

"The pupils were all really excited to hear about her career and loved getting involved with the dance activities.

"Her passion towards empowering teachers to feel confident to teach dance and encouraging young people to feel positive and body confident is truly inspiring."

Youth Sport Trust is a charity dedicated to helping with the development of young people through sport.
