THE winners of the Dorset Echo Industry Awards will be revealed tomorrow night.

Nominees, guests and sponsors will gather at Weymouth College's Hix Academy where the winners of the inaugural awards be announced.

The night will see winners crowned in nine categories.

One of the big awards on the night will be the best overall retailer award, which is sponsored by Fleetline Taxis.

Sara Norris, from Fleetline will be attending on the night and is looking forward to it and especially seeing what local businesses have to offer.

She said: "It should be a good night.

"It's just nice to support local businesses. We're a family run business and it's nice to keep it in the town and just support our local businesses."

In each of the categories, the nominees were shortlisted down to just three, with the judging panel having a tough job deciding on the finalists.

The awards look to celebrate customer service, innovation and hard work in the DT postcode area.

Entries were judged by Dorset Echo editor Diarmuid MacDonagh, Andrew Prowse from the Society of Dorset Men, Steve Davies from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council and South Dorset MP Richard Drax.

Mr MacDonagh said: "These awards will celebrate the best of local industry and we look forward to welcoming our finalists to the ceremony.”

The winners of each of the categories will get £100, a trophy and a bottle of champagne.

The main sponsors of the awards is the Sea Life and Jurassic Skyline. Weymouth College and the Hix Academy are sponsoring the ceremony.

Chalbury Stores, Mole Country Stores and Woods Furniture have all been nominated in the Best Overall Retailer category.

Other categories at the awards include Best Customer Service Provider, sponsored by Dowsetts; Best Social Media Marketing, sponsored by the Dorset Echo; Best Business Development or Innovative Idea, sponsored by Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce and Best New Business, sponsored by Basepoint.

Pengillys is sponsoring the award recognising the Best Contribution to Local Tourism; Best Product or Service is being sponsored by New Image, Best Community Engagement is being sponsored by Active Mobility with the final award, Best Business Engagement with Education sponsored by Weymuth College.

All the winners will be listed in the Dorset Echo and online.
