The final day of the eighth Camp Bestival ended in a blaze of firework glory that topped off a weekend of entertainment worth crossing the galaxy for.

The sparkling Outer Space Firework Finale display lit up the night sky above the majestic Lulworth Castle for more than 30 minutes.

Eighties girl group Bananarama had to be the unexpected highlight of Sunday afternoon.

Original members Sara Dallin and Keran Woodward - both looking so good it was hard to believe the band formed in 1979 - treated us to a lively, chirpy set.

Cheesy pop hits ‘Cruel Summer’, ‘Robert De Niro’s Waiting’, ‘Really Saying Something’, ‘I want you back’ and ‘Venus’ went down well in the baking sun.

And the crowd clearly loved learning the dance routine to ‘I heard a rumour’.

But it was the pair inviting fans up on stage to join in their rendition of ‘Help’, which turned their performance into a raucous, carefree party that was over too soon.

Scottish singer KT Tunstall was similarly energetic, enthusiastically encouraging audience participation and teaching the lyrics to her new, as yet unreleased, tracks.

As KT put it, ‘it’s your human right to sing along at a festival’.

She also demonstrated her versatility by beat boxing and mastering segues into Seven Nation Army, by the White Stripes, and The Bangles’ Walk Like an Egyptian.

Her own famous singles, ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’, ‘Other Side of the World’ and ‘Suddenly I See’, also got everyone chanting the words.

Hundreds of people crammed under and around The Big Top to laugh uproariously at comedian Jasper Carrott’s take on topics from ageing to sex and offending people.

Hats off to festival creator Rob da Bank and team for arranging a jam-packed line-up.

One of the lasting memories will be an epic Fatboy Slim set and its take home message: ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’.

A trip to sun soaked, mud-free planet Camp Bestival comes highly recommended - a chance to break from routine, let your hair down, relax and have some fun.

Must we go back to earth?
