RNLI crews were called out to assist an 8-metre RIB that became stuck on rocks east of Lulworth Cove.
The Weymouth all-weather and inshore lifeboats attended the incident after being contacted by the Coastguard at 4.10pm.
The RIB was located at Broadbench Ledge just to the west of Kimmeridge Bay, with the RNLI crews discovering its propellers has sustained severe damage.
The three people on board were uninjured so the RIB was pulled clear of the rocks and taken under tow by the all-weather lifeboat crew back to Weymouth Harbour, arriving just after 6pm.
At the harbour entrance the RNLI boarding boat from Weymouth lifeboat station took over the tow.
The vessel was then taken to the town slipway where they were met by Coastguards who offered safety advice to the RIB crew.
