THE order of Dorset druids held its opening ritual at the Kingston Russell stone circle.

Members of the newly-formed order gathered and were led by Chris Walsh, arch druid Melkin of the Dolmen Grove order and another chief druid known as Wildfox.

During the ritual, the pagans called on the spirits of the four main elements of earth, wind, fire and water and asked for their blessings.

This was followed by the druids reciting their own writings and calling on the spirit of druidry, known to some as Arwin, before meditating.

Mr Walsh said: "Every time a new order of druids is formed we call in the spirits in a place that we regard as sacred like the stone circle.

"There are a lot of druids practising in and around Dorchester and we thought it was time we had our own order."
