A WELL-established self-storage company has expanded its business by moving into larger premises in Cambridge Road.

The building is operated by Hogleaze Storage which opened for business at the beginning of October.

Approximately 30,000 square feet of storage space is available at the unit on the Granby Industrial Estate in Chickerell.

Hogleaze Storage first started the business in 2000 operating from a farm five miles west of Dorchester. Every year the business expanded to keep up with demand.

The storage units provide space for both private and business customers where they can store belongings for either long or short periods of time depending on their needs.

Manager of the Weymouth branch, Dave Matthews said: “The initial demand has been very encouraging. People are looking for space and we have lots of it, from 25sq ft up to 200sq ft units, we can accommodate anything, from a cupboards worth of storage up to the entire contents of a house.

“Access is very straightforward and the customer has the reassurance that the store is alarmed to the police. Our customers come from all walks of life, from ladies wanting to create more space at home, house moves and businesses who want to archive paperwork and records.”

Hugo James, owner of Hogleaze Storage added: “I have been asked to store everything from wedding dresses to spinning wheels, we even have a room kitted out as a library because the books were taking over someone’s house.

“We are pleased to be in Weymouth and expect to occupy the storage units quickly, keeping to our core values, efficient service and best pricing.”

Mickey Jones, chief executive of DJ Property said he was delighted when the business approached him with a strong interest for a unit.

He said: “I think the Hogleaze Storage business model is an interesting one and it was essential that they found the right unit, at the right price in the right location. As many people downsize their homes and storage space is at a premium, self-storage with easy access is the way forward.”

Almost all of DJ Property’s units on the Granby Industrial Estate, Lynch Lane Industrial Estate and Link Park are currently occupied.
