ADAM Fricker hopes the professionalism of new signing James Regan can bowl over sides after the former Somerset wicketkeeper joined the Bees permanently from Taunton Town.

Regan was dual-registered with Bridport but, wanted to be part of Taunton’s incredible run in the FA Cup that saw them take National League side Barrow to a replay on Tuesday night.

He was on the bench in the heartbreaking 2-1 loss and will be registered for Saturday’s Les Phillips Cup tie against Willand Rovers.

Talking about Regan, boss Fricker told Echosport: “He wanted to see out their FA Cup run and he will go into the first team squad.

“He’s a good signing and a really good player. He’s a utility player that can play at right-back or in the middle.

“He’s adaptable and is very good on the ball and he brings in some quality.

“Having played professional cricket he can bring in that professionalism.”

Bridport have also brought in Oscar Latas from Axminster Town. The midfielder is also due to be part of the squad pending paperwork.

The pair join a squad that has a few injuries ahead of this weekend’s tie with Gary Bulman and Alan Hill to miss the game. Adam Barrett is doubtful with a knee injury.

There is some good news for the Bees as Elliot Mann came through a reserve game on Tuesday night and will be part of the travelling party along with new loan signing Sol Ayunga.
