DESPITE three defeats in a row, Mark Jermyn will not be making wholesale changes to his starting line-up as Dorchester Town get set to take on Chesham United at the Avenue tomorrow (3pm).

The player-manager wasn’t part of the squad that lost 3-0 to the Generals back in August as he was with his family awaiting the birth of his son, Hugo.

However, he feels the knowledge of Nick Crittenden and Stuart Heath will be invaluable for the tough test.

He told Echosport: “I’ve seen a video of them but, from what Nick and Stuart have told me, is that they are a much-changed team from last season.

“Speaking to them will give me a good idea of their strengths and weaknesses.”

The Magpies have been in poor form of late, crashing out of two cup competitions as well as a loss in the league. On Saturday, against Basingstoke, the county town side created plenty of chances without scoring and the manager doesn’t want their flair to slip.

He remarked: “It’s three games without a win. Saturday’s performance was a bit of a freak. We created so many chances that, had we taken them, there would have been a different result.

“It’s important that we maintain our creativity for tomorrow and keep pushing forward for what needs to be a positive result.

“As it stands we will have a strong team to put out.”

Dorchester sit above the relegation spots on goal difference and have won just three games at home since February. Jermyn is aware that his side’s home form is pivotal to their success.

The chief added: “It is important but, we have to take into consideration the teams we have played at home.

“We want to be competing against the top sides but, it’s a big ask. We’re at the point where we just need to pick up points and tomorrow is a good game for us (to do that).”

There are no new injury issues for Dorchester heading into the game giving the manager the luxury of naming a settled squad.
