TRAINS towards London Waterloo are being delayed, diverted or cancelled after reports of remains found near the tracks between Basingstoke and Eastleigh.
All lines are currently blocked while emergency services investigate.
South West trains say because there are only two lines available through the area, trains may have to be cancelled, altered or revised at short notice.
There is currently no time for when the lines will be reopened. The 9.44am service to London has been cancelled, as has the 10.4am to Weymouth.
The location of the incident causes a knock on effect as there are only two lines available through this area.
This means trains may have to be cancelled, altered or revised at short notice. Some services may also be diverted via an alternative route or terminated and started back from different locations.
There is currently no estimated time of when the lines will be open as the British Transport Police will have to conduct investigations surrounding the incident.
Alternatively ticket acceptance has been agreed on the following routes:
Cross Country services between Basingstoke and Southampton Central/Bournemouth where possible however their services will also be disrupted.
Great Western Railway services between Southampton Central and Romsey/Salisbury in both directions.
A spokesman for South West Trains apologised for the disruption.
Lines have since reopend.
Trains: lines have reopened between Eastleigh and Basingstoke - residual delays and cancellations.
