A TEENAGER is delighted after her stolen pony was returned after almost two weeks.

Isabelle Andrews, 16, says she can't stop smiling now that her beloved Candy Floss is back.

Mystery surrounds the theft but Isabelle is just overjoyed to be reunited with her pony.

Candy Floss, who is a distinctive pinkish colour, disappeared from a field near the Verne Prison on Portland. Isabelle's family searched the island for a day before concluding she must have been stolen and reported it to the police.

When Isabelle's mum Sally appealed for information from her neighbours in Fortuneswell she learnt that a trailer had been seen in the area.

Twelve days after Candy Floss went missing she turned up just outside the field, a little thinner but otherwise in good health.

Mrs Andrews said: "It's a bit peculiar but at the end of the day we're just glad she's back.

"I had a few phone calls from people to say they had seen a trailer near the field so I went up to make sure the other horses were still there.

"There was nothing unusual to be seen but the next morning when I was walking the dogs I found Candy Floss near the field.

"We can only assume the person who took her got cold feet and decided to return her.

"The publicity from the Echo was good and lots of people have been helpful telling me what they've seen."

As well as speaking to her neighbours on Portland Mrs Andrews contacted a huge number of people from farriers and stable owners to veterinary surgeons and animal rescuers.

She also distributed photographs and posters of Candy Floss around the island.

She said: "I was on a real mission to find her.

"At one point I didn't think we'd see her again, but now she's back and my daughter is very happy indeed."
