A DORCHESTER lad is set for success after being signed to a major record label.

As reported in the Echo, Nathan Lewis is part of 5 After Midnight. The boy band shot to fame on the latest series of the X Factor, finishing in third place.

Despite being beaten to a place in the final, the trio have bagged a record deal.

5 After Midnight have signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco.

Kieran, Jordan and Nathan- a former Thomas Hardye student- will start recording in the studio after the upcoming X Factor live tour, featuring the finalists.

Nathan described it as "an honour" to be "working with the best label in the business".

Jordan added: "To say we're part of a roster that includes One Direction and Little Mix is just incredible."

The label, part of Sony Music, is mainly home to TV talent show contestants, although Labrinth, OMI and Ady Suleiman are also signed to it.

The boys said they 'can't wait' to share their music.

Sharing a post on their Twitter account, they said: "We want to thank everyone that's been a part of our journey so far, this really is just the beginning."

Perhaps it's something in the Dorset air, but the county has form for producing singing stars on the X Factor.

Little Mix's Perrie Edwards is a former Weymouth schoolgirl, and regularly comes back to the town to visit her family. The band won the X Factor in 2011 and since then have gone from strength to strength, with four Number One singles and winning a host of awards including various Radio 1 Teen Music Awards, a Glamour Women of the Year Award, 4Music's Best Group and MTV's Best UK Act.
